Some account of the foundation, history and members of the Ancient Society of Croydon Ringers

"Countless generations of men have climbed those winding stairs, stairs that have survived the effects of time and fire and were mercifully preserved from enemy bombing, and have gathered in the ringing chamber, there to ply with nimble brain our subtle art"

This fascinating small book was written in 1950 by ringer James Cooper and tells the story of bell ringing at Croydon parish church from the first records in 1599 to the victory celebrations following world war 2.

North Bucks Outing

May 14, 2011

On Saturday 7th May The Croydon ringers and friends annual outing took us to the North Bucks area for a busy day of ringing on some fabulous bells all arranged for us by Brian Baldwin, Chris's father.

The outing was notable for it's variety, a total of 6 towers and a visit to the home of Alan Marchbank who has a 10 bell 15lb mini ring installed in his garage, the Broadway Campanile, which proved to be one of the highlights of the day.

The day finished with a happy but weary band enjoying a meal...
